CONNEAUT — Betty J. Fedor, age 85, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at The Villa at the Lake, with her family at her side.

She was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Claytonia, Pa., to William J. and Jane A. (Adamson) Hopkins. Betty moved to Conneaut as a young girl, immediately falling in love with the lake. She and her brothers frequently spent summer days enjoying the water and swimming to the lighthouse and back. She had some very dear friends throughout childhood, especially Lois West and Pat Rood. She was a graduate of the very tight-knit class of 1946 of Conneaut High School. The class continued their friendships through many well-attended and frequent reunions throughout the years.

She married the love of her life, Charlie Fedor , following graduation. Together they raised six children in a very loving and humor-filled home. She was a member of the St Mary's Home and School Association and the Modern Mothers Club for many years as her children grew.

Betty worked outside the home for many years with some of her fondest working memories made at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home with her sister-in-law and partner in crime, Lillian Fedor . After several retirements, she enjoyed many years with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren until her illness. She enjoyed her flower gardens, candy-making, painting, crocheting, reading, and traveling with her friend, Thelma Shank.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Charles W. (Teresa) Fedor of Centennial, Colo., Renee (Stanley) Palagyi and Kathy (Eugene) Baker, both of Conneaut, Becky (Perry) Herpy of Lucasville, Ohio, Patty (Jim) Evans of Conneaut and Mary (Chris) Ingersoll of Shepherd, Mich.; grandchildren, Zachary Fedor , Rick (Danielle) Palagyi, Brian Palagyi, Elizabeth (Ivan) Berkel, Amanda (Dan) Glavin, Jessica (Derek) Lebzelter, Megan (Terry Burr) Baker, Nicole (Eric) Rutherford, Nick, Bob and Jill Herpy, Michael Evans, and Kayla, Tanner and Thomas Ingersoll; and great-grandchildren, Christina and Drew Palagyi, Chloe, Noah and Eli Berkel, Henry Glavin, Henry, Marcus and Benjamin Lebzelter, and Emilie and Michael Burr, with the 12th great-grandchild (James Stanley Glavin) on the way. Also surviving are her brother- and sisters-in-law, Ed and Elva Fedor , Irene Fedor and Lillian Fedor .

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Fedor ; her parents, William and Jane; her siblings, Dorothy Wilcox, William, Andrew and Robert Hopkins; and numerous extended family.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 9th, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St, Conneaut, with Fr. Greg Fedor officiating.
