Charles Edward Friedrich of Harper, Texas passed away in his home after a long, hard fought battle on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the age of 83 years.
He was born May 19, 1933 in Fredericksburg, TX, the son of Lonnie A. Friedrich and Ludwina Fritz Friedrich.
Charles married Betty Joy Lennon on November 25, 1951 in Harper, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Dayton “Buddy” Friedrich, former son-in-law Larry Mund, and step grandson, Cody Dukes.
Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Joy Friedrich of Harper, and one daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jackie Dukes of Fredericksburg. Charles had
one granddaughter, Michele LaRae Mund of Austin, one grandson, Aaron Charles Mund and his wife Theresa of Boerne, and one step grandson, BJ Dukes and his wife Emmy
of San Angelo. He was “Pa” to his 3 grandchildren and the following 5 great grandchildren: Amara and Lila Mund, daughters of Aaron; Tyler and Yazzie Dukes, son
and daughter of Cody Dukes; and Sterling Kae Dukes, daughter of BJ Dukes. He is also survived by 4 sisters and 2 brother-in-laws, Doris Edwards, Bonnie Bailey, Shae
Tatsch and husband Doug, and Gae Klaehn and husband Kermit, all of Harper and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Colwell and husband, James, of Abilene, and Joan Lennon of Harper.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 27th at 10:00am at the Lighthouse Chapel in Harper.
A time to visit with family will be held at Schaetter Funeral home from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, August 26th.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or any other Veteran charity, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
