BLOOMINGTON — Barbara Jean Torres, age 45, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on October 17, 2016.

Barb was born April 4, 1971 in Union City, IN to Jane (Barr) Torres and David A. Torres. At age nine, Barb moved to Bloomington with her mother, brother Alec and sister Emily. She has been a Bloomington resident since then with the exception of two moves to Florida which she loved. She always hoped to someday return.

Barb was a 1989 graduate of Bloomington High School North. She was also a licensed beautician. Her most recent work of many years had been in the home health field, first with the elderly and currently with those who are developmentally challenged. Barb's true calling in life was to help others.

Barb is survived by her teenage son, Austin Scott Ducker, who was absolutely the most important person in her life. She will now always watch over him and be his special angel. Also surviving are her mother Jane Torres, brother Alec Torres, and sister Emily (Torres) Winders, all of Bloomington. Her father and step-mother, David Torres and Barbara Torres of Farmland, IN. Nieces Peyton Jane Chambers, the brightest star in her life little Allie Winders, and nephew Noah Torres. Her best and most loyal friend, Pamela Schrock, and her wonderful neighbors both current and former, whom she visited nightly.

Thank you to the all of the Staff at IU Health Bloomington Hospital for taking care of Barb and the family, especially Becca. And a very special thank you to Reverend Jimmy Moore who stayed with Barb and comforted the family until her last breath was drawn.
