Gale Forest Trapp, 75, passed from this life the evening of December 1, 2016, in his home in Medford, Ore.
Sadly, his death was expected as he had been battling cancer for the past three years. We are grateful for the time we had with him.
Gale was born May 25, 1941 in a cabin in Mayfield, Utah with his twin brother, Dale, to Arthur ]ames and Edith Christina Trapp.
He spent his youth in Riverton, Utah with his mom, dad, and four brothers, graduating in 1959 from Bingham High School.
He soon married the love of his life, Shirley Olson November 7, 1959. They were then sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on ]une 22, 1960.
Gale graduated Magna Cum Laude, June 9, 1967 from University of Utah, while working full-time at Bingham Copper Mines and raising a family. Shortly after graduation, Gale accepted a job and moved from Utah to southern California. Gale and his family lived in southern California until moving to Medford, Ore. in 1990.
Gale loved history, the outdoors, Mountain Men Rendezvous, and his family and friends. He was also a prolific artist and gun maker.
Gale was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent his life serving the Church and people he loved. He touched many lives through his selfless giving and serving. He particularly loved the youth and truly valued the time spent as a Young Men's leader and Bishop of the Single's Ward.
Gale led others through his actions and example, and never made a promise he couldn’t keep.
Family meant everything to Gale, and his kids, grandkids, and greatgrandkids knew that. Gale would always make time for adventures, to hear their stories, and spend time together.
Gale is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; children, Susan (Brooke) Hartman, Gary (Nancy) Trapp, Steven Trapp, John (Tiffany) Trapp, and Clinton Trapp; brothers, Bill and Ed Trapp; along with 15 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Gale was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Dale; as well as his parents, Art and Edith.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 the Medford LDS Stake Center, 2900 Juanipero Way, Medford, Ore.
