`Bill was born Jan. 21, 1939 in Harrison, AR to Clarence and Gayle (Vacha) Belcher. Bill grew up in Wichita, KS and graduated from Wichita West High School in 1956. After high school, he served in the Air Force until 1960. He received Air Traffic Control training while in the service and then worked for the Federal Aviation Agency as an Air Traffic Controller in Kansas City, MO. In 1962, Olathe became the FAA Center and Bill worked there until his retirement. He married Carlotta Dorst Smith in 1962. Bill was a member of the Masons, Eastern Star and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Bill’s passion was grilling all kinds of foods for his family and friends. He loved working outside and maintaining a swimming pool for the family‘s use.
