Actor. Born Alexander Crichlow Barker Jr., he was best known for the role of being the tenth movie Tarzan, and also starred in numerous westerns and dramas during his lengthy career. He began his career doing small roles on Broadway and after serving in the US Army during World War II, made his film debut in "Doll Face" (1945), followed by "Return of the Bad Men" (1948). In 1949, Barker became the tenth official Tarzan of the movies appearing in "Tarzan's Magic Fountain" (1949), "Tarzan and Slave Girl" (1950), "Tarzan's Peril" (1951), "Tarzan's Savage Fury" (1952) and "Tarzan and the She Devil" (1953). His many other film credits included "Away All Boats" (1956), "Jungle Heat" (1957), "War Drums" (1957), "Pirates of the Coast" (1960), "Yellow Devil" (1964) and "Half Breed" (1966). He also was ex-husband of actresses Arlene Dahl, Lana Turner and was married to actress Irene Labhardt until her death in 1962. He died of a heart attack at the age of 54.
