He was also known for his conceptualization of memory as information processing, and this line of research led him to write the article that perhaps made him most famous: "The Magical Number Seven, Plus or Minus Two: Some Limits on Our Capacity for Processing Information", appeared in 1956 in Psychological Review. In this article, Miller pointed out as the number of grouped information, called "chunk", that the memory can contain is usually of seven, plus or minus two (thus in a range from five to nine), and that this magic number remains constant during the life of an individual.
