World War I British Army Officer. A member of a prominent Philadelphia Family, he volunteered to fight for England when World War I erupted. He was eventually commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards, and was killed in action at the Battle of the Somme. His remains were never identified on the battlefield, and a cenotaph exists for him in his family's plot in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

His name is also inscribed on the Special Memorial in Guards' Cemetery, Lesboeufs, Somme, France.
