William M Dailey died at his home in this city on Sunday afternoon, the 12th inst, after a long and painful illness, aged 75 years, five months and 12 days.
Mr Dailey had resided in this locality for over twenty years, and has ever been one of the best citizens. He was a plain practical man, but intelligent and well informed. For fifty years he had lived a faithful Christian life, studiously learning his Christian duties and putting them into practical operation. Death had no terror for him, and he longed for release from pain and suffering, an unwavering faith and buoyant hope fully sustaining him in his last hours.
William Dailey was a native of Ohio, but came to Iowa when that state was still young.
In 1848 he was married to Miss Charlotte Farnsworth, who survives him after a union of lives extending over half a century. Eight children blessed the union, six of whom - two sons and four daughters are living. There are also a number of grand children and several great grand children.
Funeral services were held at the Christian Church on Monday afternoon, Elder Giddens preaching. The remains were interred in the Douglass cemetery.
