Artist, bohemian and Danish tour guide. He arrived in Rome, March 1937, as a young man trained at the academy of art and with great hopes. Italy came in the wake of the Romantic painters of northern Europe, thanks to a scholarship from the Foundation of Art Scandinavia. He found in Italy and in Olevano Romano many friends and inspiration, here he developed his philosophy of life libertarian, but in great respect for others. He knew that in his past Olevano had housed the Danish artists of the 'Golden Age', whose paintings fill several museums in Denmark. The works of William Zoega remained in the hearts and memories of his friends. When he arrived at Zoega with groups of Danish tourists during his long career as a tour guide in the '60s and '70s for the inhabitants of the old town was a party. They lived for longer periods at Olevano Romano in the summer and weekends during the rest of the year. They integrate into the community of Olevano to the point that William was named an honorary citizen of Olevano in June 1965. With gratitude, the couple donated a coat of metal to the Olevano City Council, and this coat of arms is still preserved and can be seen in the council chamber. The memory of William and Birgit is still very strong today in Olevano.
