Edwin Britton was born Edward William Britton, son of John W. and Essie (Harbinson) Britton. After the death of his mother, his father surrendered Edwin and his two brothers to the Children's Aid Society. They rode an Orphan Train to Eureka Kansas in July of 1898. The brothers were raised in separate homes. Edwin was taken in by Sam W. McGuire. Edwin came down with Tuberculosis in 1905. He went to Colorado to try and regain his health. He arrived back in Eureka, KS on 13 February 1908, visited with his brothers and passed away the next day. His grave was unmarked until a group of local citizens purchased his stone in 1996.
