Gouverneur Tribune Press - March 13, 1946

James A. Skeldon, QM3c, of the USS Swordfish, member of the marine division, Pearl Harbor, who had been missing in action between Okinawa and Saipan since January 1945 has been reported as killed on his 13th mission.

According to a letter received by his parents from the Navy department, none of the crew survives. The date of death has been set by the Navy department at Jan 30, 1946, one year and 20 days after he was reported missing. He had served in the Pacific theater of war for two and one-half years before his death, having left the states Nov 4, 1942.

James A. Skeldon, QM3c enlisted in the Navy August 25, 1942 and took his training at the Great Lakes Naval Training station at Chicago.

He was born in Ottawa Ontario December 28, 1919, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Skeldon of Edwards, and came to the United States when he was six years old. He attended Edwards high school and was employed by the International Talc Co, Talcville.

Besides his parents, he leaves a wife and son, James, also six brothers and five sisters, Douglas, Allan, Edmond, Clarence, Caroline, Eleanor, Linda and Beatrice who reside at home, and a sister, Mrs. Albert Fuller of Edwards; also Lennis of Edwards and another brother, Harvey, recently discharged from the Navy after serving two years in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.

His grandmother, Mrs. James Sparling, resides at Campbell Bay, Quebec.
