Mr. and Mrs. Charley Berger were called to Springer, NM Friday when word was recieved that that their son, Murle Leroy Berger, 35, and his wife, Iona, 34, their son Dale, 14, and another boy, Bruce A. Hilton, 13, all of Liberal, KS were killed in a head on crash with a truck. (June 15).
The Berger's daughters Linda and Marlene were hospitalized at Colifax County General hospital in Springer, NM with broken legs and head injuries.
According to wire service reports, Mrs. Berger was driving east on US 56 about 15 miles east of Springer, NM when the car apparently went out of control and crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a two ton truck.

Murle Leroy Berger was born Jan 19, 1938, in Fredonia, KS a son of Charley and Lena (Butner) Berger.
He was married May 23, 1958, to Iona Scroggins at Ulysses, KS. He was a 1956 graduate of Fredonia High School, and was a printer for Tradewinds Industries at Liberal, KS. He was a member of the First Baptist Church at Liberal, KS.
Survivors are his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charley Berger of Fredonia, KS, two daughters of the home, Marlene Gail and Linda Marie, two brothers, Gene of Fredonia, KS and Larry of Council Grove, KS.
