Motion Picture Producer. Tony Award Winner, and in 2002 Academy Award Winner as producer of the movie "Chicago". He is also known for the Broadway productions included "On The Twentieth Century", "Sweeney Todd", the Pulitzer Prize winner "Crimes of the Heart", "The Norman Conquests", "Grand Hotel", "The Life" and the last musical "Big Maybelle: Soul of the Blues", as well as for having founded the "New York Center for Children" to care for abused children and their families. Among his credit films, "Some of My Best Friends Are ...", "The Boys from Brazil", "The Shining" and "Fort Apache, The Bronx". Martin Richards has died after a long struggle against the cancer.

Suggested edit: The NY Center for Children was done in honor of his wife, Mary Lea a Johnson.
His real name was Martin Richard Klein. He changed is name, I think so it would not sound "jewish" which he was. He made application to the Boca Raton Hotel and Club in the late 80's and they would not accept him.
