William F. Parman, 74, Rochester Place Apartments, Apt. 401, and formerly of 524 Fulton Ave., Rochester, died at 12:50 a.m. Aug. 26 at Woodlawn Hospital, where he was a patient following a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 11, 1930, in Tippecanoe, he was the son of Samuel B. and Eunice M. Parman Smith. He lived in the Rochester area for 37 years after he moved here from Cedar Lake.
He retired from Cargill Feed, Mentone, where he was a truck driver for several years. He later worked as a night watchman for Rochester Metal Products Co., Rochester. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the occupation of Japan following World War II. He later served as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. He was a member of LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post 36, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1343, Fraternal Order of Eagles 852 and F & AM Lodge 79, all of Rochester.
He is survived by two daughters, Blanche M. Curtis, Whiting, and Penny Jacobs, Brooklyn, Mich.; one son, William Parman, Cedar Lake; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters, Judy Spencer, Logansport, Shirley Lucas, Lucerne, Velma Harlan, Converse, and Frieda Hamblen, Marion; three brothers, Everett Smith, Dean Smith, both of Logansport, and Jerry Smith, Lucerne; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Patrick Parman, on Nov. 24, 1994; and two brothers.
His graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Cemetery, Logansport, with Pastor Buddy Holder officiating. LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post 36 and VFW Post 1343 will perform military graveside services. Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, is handling arrangements.
