He was born on Feb. 12, 1921 in Sweden to Arvid Ohlsson and Karin Bergstrom Ohlsson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice and Gulli; a brother, Dennis and a grandson, Carl Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Melchi Ohlsson, whom he married on April 23, 1945 in Monticello, Illinois; three sons, Ole (Sandi) Ohlsson, Larry (Anda) Ohlsson and David (Julia) Ohlsson; a daughter, Deborah Gross; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was a retired Major in the Air Force. He served during World War II with the 44th bomber group. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters. While in the Air Force he was stationed at Chanute, California, Japan, Montana and Florida.
He loved fishing, crossword puzzles, tinkering in the garage, the Cubs, his dog Baby and spending time with family.
