Lieutenant Junior Grade Jones was living in Birmingham, Al when he entered the service and was a member of Attack Squadron 12, Carrier Air Wing 1 aboard the Aircraft Carrier FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT (CVA-42).
On November 12, 1966, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Aircraft Skyhawk (A-4E) over North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed.
His remains were never recovered.
His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
