DECATUR - Herbert L. Sefton, 93, of Decatur, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 in his home. He was born January 13, 1917, in Brownstown, the son of Lee and Rhoda (Green) Sefton. Herbert was an Army Veteran of WWII where he served as a pilot achieving the rank of Captain. He was the pilot of a B-24 Liberator bomber flying more that 50 missions in enemy territory. Herbert was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 3 Oak Clusters and EAME Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars. After his service in the military, Herbert worked as a pilot for the Ohio Oil Company (now Marathon Oil Company) until he retired in 1972. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion and VFW. He is survived by a nephew, Terry Ankrom and his wife Kathy Kline of Decatur; great nephew, Jeremiah Ankrom and great niece, Rebekah Ankrom Baker. Preceding him in death are his sisters: Genevieve Ankrom and Charlotte Cook. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield where military rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. The family of Herbert L.
