Civil War Union Army Soldier. He enlisted on January 27, 1864 as "Franklin Jones", lying about his age. Assigned to Company A of the 1st New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry, he was captured by Confederate forces on May 4, 1864 at Todd's Tavern, Virginia. Imprisoned at the infamous Confederate stockade at Andersonville, Georgia, he died there of dysentery on September 22, 1864.
