Obituary.

James B. McCoy, well known in this community, died at his residence in this city Wednesday, October 5, at 10:30 a.m., of blood poisoning, after an illness of over a month, aged 56 years, 11 months and 19 days. Mr. McCoy was a soldier in the rebellion, having enlisted May 13, 1862, as first corporal in the 87th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company A. Enlisted in 26th Ohio Battery June 8, 1863, and was wounded in the shoulder at Vicksburg, Mississippi. Was discharged June 8, 1865, by reason of expiration of term of service. Was mustered into Altoona Post No. 243, G.A.R. May 6, 1891, and served as post commander and in other subordinate positions since that time. Deceased has practiced law to some extent though not extensively. He was serving as director on the school board at the time of his death, having been elected at the last meeting in July. He leaves a wife and five small children, besides a number of other relatives to mourn his death, for it can be truthfully said that he was a good neighbor and a kind husband and father. The funeral cortege left the residence at 1 p.m., and after arriving at the cemetery services were conducted by G.A.R. Post, after which the remains were interred.
