LINCOLN -- Daniel Lynn Welchel, 48, of Lincoln, formerly of Atlanta, was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.

Mr. Welchel worked for Nord Carpet Cleaning in Bloomington for 22 years and owned Magic Clean Carpet Cleaning Company in Lincoln for the last 10 years.

He was born Aug. 28, 1956, in Lincoln to Ebin and Marie Jackson Welchel. He married Darlene McCombs on Sept. 23, 1973, at McLean.

He is survived by his wife; his mother, of Atlanta; two sons, Matthew Lynn Welchel of Lincoln and Luke Daniel (and Stasia) Welchel of Lincoln; two grandsons; five brothers, Jack Welchel of Irmo, S.C., Ernest Welchel of Eureka, James Welchel of Searcy, Ark., Thomas Welchel of Winston, Mo., and David Welchel of Bloomington; and two sisters, Libby Purlee and Cindy Bailey, both of Atlanta.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He attended Twin City Church in Bloomington.

His family said: "Dan had a heart of a servant. He dedicated his life to Jesus and reaching the lost. He left a powerful legacy to his family and all who knew him. He was the greatest husband, father, grandfather and son. We will miss him every day."

Memorial contributions may be made to his family.
