Army Spc Ludlam was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, based in Vilseck, Germany, as a communication specialist. Ludlam died when he was electrocuted while installing telephone wires in Baqoubah. The ladder he was climbing slid into power lines. Jason was born into a military family and lived half his life in overseas locations until the age of 15. He joined the Boy Scouts Venture Crew 1872 performing reenactments of Civil War and westward expansion of the late 1800s. He served in many positions including company first sergeant and suttler and was a summer camp advisor at Camp Sid Richardson. Jason was a 2000 graduate of Arlington High School where he was a member of the school's Junior ROTC program for three years and joined the Army National Guard after turning 17. He joined the military to follow in his parents' footsteps and earn money for college. In May 2003, he transferred from the National Guard to regular Army and was deployed to Iraq in February. Jason was a very structured person and liked the military's ways. He wasn't afraid of anything and always had a smile on his face. He was the kind of person who would do things that took a lot of time and effort that no one else wanted to do.

NOTE: Jason's memorial service was held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas. His burial location is from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs records.
