Gettysburg Times, Oct 22, 1940:
Mrs. Floie Adair, 55, wife of William L. Adair, died at her home, 153 York street, Monday evening at 6:30 o'clock from a complication of diseases. She had been in ill health five years and was bedfast eight weeks.
The deceased was born in Cumberland County near Carlisle, a daughter of the late Philip A. and Elizabeth (Kline) Nickey. At the age of two years she moved to Newport where she lived until six years after her marriage before coming to Gettysburg. She resided in Gettysburg for the last 27 years and was a member of the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church. She was also a member of the Ladies' auxiliary of the State Firemen's association.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thelma E. Riffle, at home; two grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. John Romberger, Middletown, and Mrs. Frank Young, Chambersburg.
Funeral services from the Bender funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by the Rev. Howard Schley Fox. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Bender funeral home after 7 o'clock Wednesday evening.
