WOODBINE, Iowa | Lois Marie (Coyle) (Hanson) McColley, 95, formerly of Woodbine, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.

Lois was born Dec. 6, 1921, on a small farm east of Woodbine, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Nellie (Ehlert) Coyle. She was the fourth child of eight children, six girls and two boys. Lois was raised in Woodbine, graduating high school there in 1939.

Lois married Carl D. Hanson on Aug. 14, 1942, in Abilene, Texas, where Carl was training for the Medical Evacuation Hospital Unit at Camp Barkley. They lived and raised their family on a farm near Little Sioux, Iowa. After Carl passed away Oct. 6, 1969, Lois moved to Woodbine, and cared for her parents. On June 8, 1978, Lois married John B. McColley and resided in Apache Junction, Ariz. John passed away Sept. 27, 2010, just after they moved to Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Lois was a homemaker and loved raising her children and spending time with her parents, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and enjoyed life. Lois especially enjoyed the time spent with her friends bowling on the Alton's Store bowling team. After retiring to Arizona, Lois performed for many years in a Kitchen Band entertaining the residents at several different retirement parks. She also enjoyed playing cards, billiards, and leading swimming pool exercises.

Lois is survived by her son, Charles W. Hanson (Helen) of Moorhead, Iowa; daughter, Peggy Berg (Mark) of Plymouth, Minn.; stepsons, Jerry and Randy McColley; granddaughter, Pauline Swaney; grandson, Jake Berg; sister, Bonnie Van Deusen of Denver; sister-in-law, Mary Coyle of Missouri Valley, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Stevens of Woodbine, and Alvin McColley of Omaha; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

McColley; parents, Edward and Nellie (Ehlert) Coyle; brothers, Louis and Richard Coyle; sisters, Ethel Petty, Dorothy Boustead, Marjorie Ellivinger and Katherine Stevens; great-grandson, Scott Jackson; and granddaughter, Carla L. Berg.

We want to thank her caregivers at Elmwood Care Centre for all the love and attention shown to our mother.

Her family has requested that memorial contributions in her name be given to Elmwood Care Centre, 222 N. 15th Street, Onawa, IA 51040.
