Dennis Gary Hoke Jr., 42, of Waynesboro, Virginia, formerly of White Sulphur Springs, died Thursday night, October 16, 2014. Born November 1, 1971, in Covington, Virginia, he was a son of Sharon Ann Dean Carter and the late Dennis Gary Hoke Sr.
Dennis was a 1990 graduate of Greenbrier East High School. Dennis loved playing football and basketball and was a great fan of the Cleveland Browns and West Virginia Mountaineers.
In addition to his dad, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; Delbert and Ida Hoke, Dennis and Edith Dean, and Charlie and Ruth Vass; uncles, Bobby Dean and Leonard Judy; and an aunt, Margie Potter.
Survivors other than his mother, include his wife, Debbie Ann Hoke; two daughters, Rica Robles and Destanie Ann Hoke; his step-mother, Patricia Hoke, all of whom he loved very much; one sister, Denise Feury and Sammy of Covington, Virginia; and one special nephew, Duell Feury of Covington, Virginia. Also surviving is his stepdad, Carter D. Rogers; stepbrother, Carter B. Rogers Jr.; and two stepdaughters, Shannon Honaker of White Sulphur Springs, and Kayla King of Covington.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 22, 2014, 1 p.m. at the Wild Meadow Baptist Church, Rt. 92, White Sulphur Springs with the Reverend Lowell O'Dell officiating. Interment will be at Mapledale Cemetery, Rt. 92, White Sulphur Springs. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the church. Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.
