L.V. Marler, 77, of House Springs, Mo., died Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Born in Gideon on November 24, 1934, he was the son of the late Ed Marler and Grace (Williams) Marler. On August 10, 1957, in Hernando, Miss., he was united in marriage to Joan Marler, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Rocky Marler of Warrenton, Mo., and Paul Marler of Bonne Terre, Mo.; two sisters, Gladys Houltzhouser of St. Peters, Mo., and Leona Earnheart of Malden; companion, Becky Funston of House Springs, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Winford Marler, Wayne Marler and Sanford Marler and five sisters, Marie Eaton, Irene Masters, Osa Morton, Velma Ledbetter and Genevieve Young.

Visitation was held Friday, December 9, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services followed immediately in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kit Campbell officiating. Burial was in Mt. Gilead Cemetery at Clarkton. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
