Marion Moffett Hart LeBlanc
.
Marion Moffett Hart LeBlanc, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Baton Rouge surrounded by her devoted family on May 21, 2015. The daughter of Polly O'Brion Hart and Robert Andrew Hart, II, she was born in Baton Rouge on July 4th, 1925. A graduate of Baton Rouge High School, she continued her studies in Mathematics Education at LSU where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Her family ties to New England instilled a love of travel, history and an appreciation for her heritage. She spent many summers with cousins, Jean and Burt Corkum, in Maine, and cultivated a great appreciation for genealogy which would become a lifelong passion. She shared memorable travels with her children, grandchildren and friends, enjoying simple beach trips as much as her trips to Europe and a visit to Stonehenge. She used her keen abilities in mathematics and research to work as an abstractor with the firm of Watson, Blanche, Wilson and Posner. True to the nature of her Independence Day birthdate, she lived a life full of unconditional acceptance and freely offered her family and friends the gift of an open heart. She loved deeply. She was a member of Saint James Episcopal Church and she enjoyed being active with the Spirituality Center of the Sisters of Saint Josephs. Her great faith led her to explore a contemplative life where she read extensively and shared her experiences as a seeker with humble appreciation. Her spiritual direction led her to a call to service and she spent many years helping countless people learn to read through the Literacy program. Marion is proceeded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Andrew Hart II; sister-in-law, Janet Randolph Hart; and cousin, Alice Hart Singer. Also, preceding her in death are LeBlanc family relatives: her former husband, Gordon Simon LeBlanc, Sr., sister-in-laws and brothers-in-law, W. H. "Bill" and Jane LeBlanc, Marion and Colby LaPlace, Mary Ada and George Williams, and Price LeBlanc. Marion, known by those she loved as "Ma'Ma'", "Marnie", and "Bipper", is survived by the greatest joys in her life, her two children; Moffett LeBlanc Strain and Gordon Simon "Skeet" LeBlanc Jr.; their spouses, Hoyt Griffith Strain, Jr. and Teri Ebinger LeBlanc; and their children. She adored being the grandmother of Taylor and Andrew LeBlanc, Griff Strain, and step-grandmother to Ashleigh Strain Amoroso and Dorothy Strain Gautreaux. She is also survived by her treasured Hart family nephews; "Drew" and Randolph Hart; her beloved sister-in-law, Shirley LeBlanc and numerous LeBlanc nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, May 24, 2015 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home (825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802) at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 25, 2015 at St. James Episcopal Church (205 North 4th Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70801) at 9:00 AM until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, St. Jude's Hospital, Operation Smile or a charity of your liking.
