Thomas Estes was a pioneer settler of Putnam County, WV. He was born in 1793 in Culpeper County, VA son of Thomas & Elizabeth Estes. Thomas was the 3rd Great Grandson of Abraham Estes whose parents migrated from England in the early 1600s. Thomas married Mary Sims and they moved to Hurricane Creek about 1824.

Children of Thomas & Mary (Sims) Estes:

1. James M. Estes b. 1823
2. Elizabeth Estes b. 1826 d. 1877
3. Mary Jane Estes b. 1829 d. 1900
4. Erasmus Estes b. 1832 d. 1903
5. Emily Estes b. 1834 d. 1898
6. John Jackson Estes b. 1838 d. 1916

Thomas died January 1, 1854 age 59 years and 7 months on Hurricane Creek, Putnam County, WV.
