IRMA M. CHRISTENSEN
Irma Mathilda Christensen, 90, of Onawa, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 25, 1988, in St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, after a long illness.
She was born August 20, 1897, in Covell, Ill., to John and Adele (Munster) Beth and moved to Onawa in about 1910 with her family. On September 22, 1915, she married Chris Christensen in Onawa. The couple lived at Little Sioux, Onawa, and Turin before retiring to Onawa. He died April 23, 1979, in Woodbine, Iowa.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa.
Survivors include three daughters, Adele Christensen and Mrs. William F. (Pearl M.) Wilson, both of Onawa, and Mrs. David (Bernice) Halliday of Tarkio, Mo., two sons, Raymond of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. and Ralph of Onawa, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lawrence (Bethine) Christensen of Onawa, one sister, Martha Winstead of McLean, Ill., eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Lawrence, one daughter, Viola, one granddaughter, four brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 1988, at Faith Lutheran Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Quentin Quanbeck officiating. The organist, Mrs. Syril Brown, played, "How Great Thou Art" for the congregation to sing.
Casket bearers were Chris Christensen, Terry Christensen, Allan Christensen, William G. Wilson, Steven Wilson, and William D. Wilson.
Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.
