Gloria Jean Reeves, age 72, longtime resident of Okaloosa County, passed away Saturday morning, July 18, 2015, in Crestview in the presence of her loving family. She was born August 4, 1942, in Valparaiso to the late Joe and Nellie Griffin Mathews. Gloria was Retired President and CEO of the Okaloosa County Teachers Federal Credit Union, where she served exactly 40 years. She loved the outdoors, especially camping. She was an avid auto racing fan and was active in crafts. Gloria loved family histories and was a dedicated supporter of the Baker Block Museum, Niceville Memories and Baker Memories, as well as a prolific contributor to the Find a Grave website. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Roderick Logan Reeves. Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Wayne Reeves, of Crestview; two sons, Carl Joseph Reeves (Becky), of Crestview, and Ricky Reeves (Stephanie), of Baker; and three grandchildren, Tiffany Reeves, Dax Reeves and Lynsey Reeves. A time of visitation will take place from 5-7 PM on Monday, July 20, 2015, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home. A Celebration of Gloria’s Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment in Shady Grove Cemetery will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.
