James Ray "Jim" Maxwell was born on September 16, 1921 in Davidson County, Tennessee, the son of Dewey Bradley Maxwell (1900-1987) and his wife Edith F (Elrod) Maxwell (1901-1996).

He was married to Eleanor Malone (1922-2016), and she was the daughter of Roy Donald Malone (1895-1960) and his wife Flora Belle (Colley) Malone (1894-1953).

Jim served in the US Army during World War II, and he was a member of Lincoya Hills Baptist Church and retired from DuPont after 38 years. Jim was also an avid golfer and worked at the Hermitage Golf Course as a Marshall after retiring. He is in the Nashville Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the Nashville Old Timers Baseball Association.

A resident of Donelson, Tennessee, he was 93 years old when he passed away on July 27, 2015.

Preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ralph Maxwell and D B Maxwell and by his sister Juanita (Maxwell) Gentry, he was survived by two married sons; a married daughter; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held at Hermitage Funeral Home, and a military burial was in Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
