BERTHA HAWS
Clearfield - Mrs. Bertha Louise Haws, 51, of Clearfield, wife of Gilbert C Haws, died last night in the Dee Hospital.
Mrs. Haws was co-owner of the Hideout Café in Clearfield and was associated with her son Lee G Haws.
She was a member of the Aerie 2472 Eagles Auxiliary, of Ogden. She was a member of the Clearfield First Ward.
During World War II, she was employed at Utah General Depot.
She was born July 3, 1903, in Smithfield, Utah, a daughter of Thomas and Beatrice Cunningham Bowcutt. She resided in Smithfield and Garland until moving to Ogden in 1918.
On Aug 4, 1921, she was married to Mr. Haws in Salt Lake City. The couple resided in Ogden until four years ago when they moved to Clearfield.
Surviving are her husband, two sons and two daughters: Robert J. Haws, stationed at Hill Air Force Base; Lee G. Haws, Clearfield; Mrs. Victor (Shirley) Tavare, Hayward, Calif.; and Mrs. John (Betty) Steeves, Los Angeles, Calif.: three brothers: Thomas Bowcutt, Idaho Falls: Robert Bowcutt, Logan, and Irvin Bowcutt, Ogden: three sisters; Mrs. Joel (Lizzie) Hobbs, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Herbert (Billy) Wolf, Portland and Mrs. Rex (Vivian) Shurtz, Roy.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Lindquist and Sons Colonial Funeral Chapel, 4308 Washington Blvd. Bishop Anthon Montgomery of the LDS Clearfield First Ward officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday until services. Burial will be in Brigham City Cemetery.
