He was born September 27, 1950 in River Falls, WI to Karl Sr. and Alverda (Gunderson) Moritz. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1968, and then went on to attend the technical school in Eau Claire. Karl started worked at various places before becoming a laborer at Purina, where he worked for 25 years. He also volunteered his time to several civic organizations. He married Linda Bignell on June 25, 1977 at Concordia Lutheran. Later in life he worked at Treasure Island Resort and Casino, where he enjoyed visiting with his co-workers and people visiting the casino. Karl was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and watching the MN Vikings and Twins.
Karl is survived by his wife, Linda of Red Wing; two daughters, Melissa Moritz of Durham, NC and Amanda Moritz of Red Wing; two sisters, Ann and Debra Moritz of Red Wing; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl Sr. and Alverda Moritz.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Lynne Rigg officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 16 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
