River Road Scene of Fatal Mishap
A 33-year-old Zilwaukee Township woman was killed at 6:20 p.m. Sunday when struck by a car while walking along Veterans Memorial Parkway (US-23) three miles north of Saginaw.

The traffic victim was Mrs. Theresa Biggers, 33, of North River Road, Zilwaukee Township. Coroner Gugel said the woman died of a neck fracture and multiple leg fractures.

Mrs. Biggers death was the 58th fatality this year in Saginaw County, Forty-five of the fatalities have occurred in rural portions of the county.

Driver of the southbound car which struck Mrs. Biggers was identified by the Saginaw County Sheriff Department as Thomas R. Schwandt, 17, of Bay City. Mrs. Biggers was walking south.

IN SECOND LANE IN RAIN.
Schwandt told sheriff's officers that Mrs. Biggers was walking in the second lane--ten feet inside the west edge of the pavement--of the four-lane highway. He said he did not see the woman until his car was within six yards of her. Schwandt said he applied his brakes but was unable to avoid striking her.

A drizzling rain was held t be at least partially to blame for 15 other automobile accidents occurring Sunday and early Monday which resulted in injuries to five persons.

Passed away Sunday evening as a result of an automobile accident. She was born in Saginaw Nov. 7, 1915. She leaves her step-mother, Mrs. Josephine Musielak, Saginaw; one sister, Mrs. Clarias Jones, Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, William and Leon Musielak both of Saginaw; two step-sisters, Mrs. Henry Soiek, Saginaw; Mrs. Marie Fausnaugh, Burt, Mich.; one step-brother, Chester Zaleski, Saginaw.

The funeral will take place at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Waier Funeral Home. Rev. Fr. Eugene Forbes will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet's Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet at 8:30 p.m. tonight to recite the Rosary. She may be seen at the funeral home until time of service.
