Carl Clifton Davis, 87 of Madisonville, KY, went home to the Lord at 10:45 P.M. Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Evansville, IN, where he and his wife met 71 years ago.
He was born August 15, 1928 in Luzerne, KY to the late Hubert and Josey McLevain Davis.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. In 1947, he joined the Air Force and served 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Following his military retirement, he returned to this area and was the first Personnel Director of the old Hopkins County Hospital.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Virginia Gray Davis of Trigg County, KY, a retired teacher; three children: Jeannie (Tim) Grubbs of South Fulton, TN, Janis Simpson of White Plains, KY, Rick (Jane) Davis of Versailles, KY; and four grandchildren: Megan (Clark) Hendrix, Ellen Davis, Jay Simpson, and Charlie Davis and a sister, Ruth Simms of Cadiz, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:15 P.M. at East End Cemetery in Cadiz. Military Honors will be performed by the U.S. Air Force.
