Maxine Grace Ersland, 88, of Waterloo, died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home Tuesday, August 30, 2016.

She was born September 1, 1927 in Waterloo, daughter of Ralph E. and Ella Marie Jacobs Baish.

She married Gerald G. Ersland on August 24, 1949 in Seattle, Washington. He died February 4, 1978.

Maxine graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1945. She was a homemaker and member of Waterloo First Lutheran Church and Rebekah Circle.

Maxine enjoyed embroidering and loved watching the Chicago Cubs and her game shows, The Price is Right, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune on television.

She is survived by her daughter: Tammy (Pat) Hayes, Waterloo, IA; son: Jeff (Cheryl) Ersland, Evansdale, IA; son: Jerry (Cindy) Ersland, Waterloo, IA; seven grandchildren: Troy Ersland, Brianne Juhl, Tina Foster, Jacob Ersland, Terra Schmidt, La Rae Randall, and Lindsey Hayes; three step grandchildren: Nicole Hayes-Mahan, Jodi Hayes, and Cory Sherwood; six great‑grandchildren: Carter Juhl, Gavin Juhl, Brynley Juhl, Holly Huss, Andrew Buck, and Lincoln Schmidt; and nine step great-grandchildren: Shanté McMullen, Daeton Jones, Aliya Jones, Zachary Jones, Britney Kunkle, Morgan Kunkle, Brooklyn Mahan, Emily Sherwood, and Kaylee Sherwood.

Maxine is preceded by: her parents; stepmothers, Augusta Hilmer Baish and Melinda Baish; her husband; and a sister, Katherine Baish.

Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2016 at Waterloo First Lutheran Church; 118 High St. in Waterloo
Visitation: for an hour before services at the church
Cemetery: Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo
