Ray was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Ray and Hilda were married in 1951 and shortly after began his service in the US Army, where he obtained the rank of Corporal. After returning from the Army he tried his hand at farming for a while. He then took a job as a mechanic at the Ford tractor dealership in Liberty. He had a real passion for helping people with their farm equipment. After a few years, he went to work for the Ford tractor dealership in Greensboro and was then recruited by Ms. Luta Harden to manage the parts and service department at Graham Tractor in 1969. He became the owner in 1984. Graham Tractor became his pride and joy and he devoted his life to serving others.
Ray enjoyed rabbit hunting with his beagles. He loved the peace and solitude of the outdoors, especially when he was on his tractor. He was a long time member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he loved to sing in the choir.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, 6151 Bethany Way, Staley; burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ray will lie in repose in the church sanctuary, for viewing, one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
