Resident of Hatboro

Elmer D. Shive died suddenly Monday, September 8, 2003 in his home in Hatboro at the age of 72.

He was the beloved husband of Caroline (Carol) A. (nee Billerbeck) Shive and was born in Southampton, Pa., a son of the late Elmer and Esther (Davis) Shive. Elmer had resided in Southampton for 70 years before moving to Hatboro two years ago. He was a graduate of the Upper Southampton/ Warminster High School and before retiring, had been employed as a fabricator for the former Air Shields Products in Warminster. He was an avid sports fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Eagles and the Flyers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Shirley Dossett, Esther Daily and Audrey Stone, all of Kentucky; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two step-sons, Wayne F. Gurt of Texas and Edward F. Gurt of Warminster; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his service on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road, Hatboro, where his family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. until time of service. If desired, memorials in Elmer's memory may be made to The American Lung Association, 525 Plymouth Road, Suite 315, Plymouth Meeting, Pa. 19462.
