Denis E. Webb

Denis E. Webb, 59, passed away on July 8, 2006. He was born in West Columbia, Texas on January 27, l947, and graduated from WCHS in 1965. Denis attended Texas A&I University on a full football scholarship and graduated in 1969 with a degree in Business Administration. He lettered in football as a defensive end and was a member of the A&I Javelina NAIA national football championship team. Denis attended banking schools in Minnesota and Louisiana and received a master’s degree in finance from LSU. He enjoyed a career in banking, first as an agricultural credit specialist at the Houston Bank for Cooperatives, and moved to commercial banking beginning as a vice president of the First National Bank of Raymondville. Denis served in the Marine Reserves during the Vietnam era while attending school.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie Zatyka-Webb; son, Nicholas Webb; stepdaughter, Kelly Ellis; and sister, Clydell Wallace. Also surviving are two grandsons, Austen Webb and Grayson Ellis, along with nephews, Darin and Denis Wallace.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2006, at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia, with the Rev. Peter Conaty officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery at 2 p.m. in Houston, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 16, 2006, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
