Obituary for Mr. Sylvester Wright Jr.
Sylvester Wright, Jr was born November 1, 1932 to the union of Sylvester
Wright, Sr. and Ernestine Wright in Cincinnati, OH. He was eldest of four
children. At the young age of 21, Sylvester enlisted in the United States
Navy on June 19 1951. He was assigned to the USS Dennis J Buckley where
he completed three tours of duty in the Mediterranean as an air and water
Radio Operator. During this time Sylvester received a National Defense
Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a Navy Occupation Service Medal
(European Clasp). Sylvester was the owner of Centennial Building
Maintenance, a Janitorial service where he was self-employed until his
retirement in 2008.
Sylvester accepted Christ as his personal Savior and Joined Pilgrim Rest
Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Martin Childs, Jr
where he served faithfully; he was an active member of the Men's choir, he
served on the layman's board. He helped with community functions
whenever possible. And consistently donated to Milwaukee Rescue Mission
in an effort to help feed the homeless.
On April 8, 2015, he was called home. He was preceded in death by his
Father, Sylvester Wright, Sr. his Mother, Ernestine Wright, and loving Sister
Barbara Jean Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two brothers Lawrence Wright (Melinda),
Alphonso Wright, of Cincinnati, OH and a host of other relatives
A very special friend which a father son relationship was formed, Roberto (Yvonne)
Rodriguez Adopted Grandchildren: Candice Nash, Robert Rodriguez, Destiny Rodriguez,
Special friends Darlene Graap, Don Graap Jr. and a host of other friends.
