She was born to R.J. and Ardis Smith on Sept. 19, 1936, in Minneapolis, Minn.
Our family is grateful for the care and friendship she received from her quilting buddies, Patsy, Lorri, Maryann Irene. Blessed are the Piecemakers.
She worked for BE Aerospace in Anaheim before retiring.
Her passion was quilting and she loved teaching classes in quilting and knitting. She volunteered for the Navy, Marine Corps Relief Society, donating hand-knit baby blankets, sweaters and caps for military newborns. She took great pride in producing the Morongo Basin Hospice Quilt, working many tireless hours.
She is survived by her children, Robin Clark, Deborah Chang, Ted and Michael Patrick Tonioli, and her brothers, Mike and R.J. Smith.
She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Heather Burdine, Tyler Canales, Laurel Megan Chang and Samantha Cameron Tonioli.
A memorial service will begin 11 a.m. Sept. 15 at 775 North Alta in Landers.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Tonioli’s family suggests memorial donations to Desert AIDS Project, 1695 North Sunrise Way, Palm Springs, CA 92263, Attn: Sue.
