Funeral services for Ms. Joan Rainer Lott, age 74 of Ashland, will be Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Rev. Rusty Craig officiating. Burial will follow on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mendenhall City Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi.
Ms. Lott passed away on Monday, June 23 2014 at the Clay County Hospital. She was born in Decatur, Mississippi, was a graduate of Beulah Hubbard High School and moved to Clay County in 1965. Ms. Lott had worked as a secretary at the Clay County Hospital for over 15 years, the Clay County Circuit Clerk's office for over seven years and at the office of A.L. Hardegree, Attorney at Law. Joan was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Joy Sunday School Class and served as church hostess for several years. She also enjoyed cooking, traveling and serving as cook on church youth trips.
Ms. Lott is survived by one daughter, Beverly Parker (Bobby) of Belmont, MS; three sons: Herbert M. Lott of Smiths Station, AL, Joseph William Lott of Ashland and Dean Lott (Christina) of Oxford, AL. and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clois Walter Rainer and Cora Adella Deen Rainer; one brother, J.P. Rainer and one nephew, Jamey Rainer.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. The family requests no flowers; however, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX. 75231 or to the First Baptist Church in Ashland, P.O. Box 577, Ashland, AL 36251.
