Gladys was the daughter of Rosco Fessler and Neola Desm. She married Robert Carver on July 1, 1948 in Carroll, Iowa. They were the parents of Michelle.


November 26, 2001 - Daily Times Herald - Gladys Carver of Scribner, Neb., formerly of Carroll, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday. Nov. 27, 2001, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll with Father Timothy Schott officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Mrs. Carver, 81, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Funeral Home in Scribner. Gift bearers will be Jim and Diane Fay. Casket hearers will be Jim Fay, Linn Kroegcr, Lornie Topp, Mike Kroeger, Kevin Kroeger and Ryan Kroeger. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll beginning at noon on Tuesday.

Gladys Carter was born on Nov. 10, 1920, at Cherokee, a daughter of Rosco Perry and Neola Katherine (Desm) Fessler. She spent her younger years in the Cherokee and Larrabee communities and graduated from Larrabee High School. Prior to her marriage she had been employed by the Matt Furniture Store in Cherokee.

She was married to Robert Carver on July 1, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Carroll. She had been employed by the former Humphrey Grain Company and Garden and Gifts in Carroll. Mrs. Carver had made her home in Fremont, Neb. since 1994. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Parish and the Parish Ladies Guild. Mrs. Carver enjoyed gardening, house cleaning, bowling and watching sports on television.

She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Kroeger, and her husband, Bruce, of Fremont; two grandchildren; and sisters- and brother-in-law, Norma Booth of Fort Dodge and Janet and Joe Knobbe of Waukegan, Illinois.

Mrs. Carver was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Carver in 1981; one brother, Floyd Fessler; and two sisters, Alyce Killingsworth and Evelyn Taylor.
