Lilly was under three years old when her mother died between March 1871 and June 1874 and her father married Mary Morgan in June 1874.

Marriage license issued October 29, 1887 in Kingston, Tennessee for G. A. Gibson and Lilly Brown revealed they married on October 30, 1887 in Roane County, Tennessee.

Alfred was about twenty-seven and Lilly was sixteen when they married.

The 1900 census of June 21, revealed Alfred was a farmer and they rented their farm in District 14, Roane County, Tennessee. Alfred was born in October 1860 and Lilly was born in May 1870. Alfred, Lilly and their parents were all born in Tennessee. They had been married fourteen years, had five children and five still living. Household members: Alfred Gipson (39), Lilly (30), Ben (Aug 1887)(12), Willie (9), Wilburn (5), Stella (4) and Maggie (2/12).

The 1910 census of April 30, revealed Alfred was a farmer on his own account and owned their farm free of mortgage. They lived in District 1, Roane County, Tennessee. Alfred and his parents were born in Kentucky. Lilly and her parents were born in Georgia. They had been married twenty-two years, had eight children and eight still living. Household members: Alfred Gipson (44), Lilly (38), Maggie (16), Winburn (12), Stella (10), Ethel (7), Frank (4) and Carrie (1). Son, Willie and wife lived next door.

Their twenty year old daughter, Stella Wilson shot and killed herself in January 1917.

The 1920 census of January 5, revealed Alfred worked for wages as a coal miner and rented their home in District 9, Claiborne County, Tennessee. Alfred, Lilly and his parents were born in Tennessee. Household members: Alfred Gibson (53), Ethel (16), Frank (13), Carrie (10) and Edgar (8). Note* it is not known why Lilly was not listed on the census.

The 1930 census of April 8, revealed they rented their home on Valley Creek Road for $5 per month in District 9, Claiborne County, Tennessee. Alfred and his parents were born in Kentucky. Lilly and her parents were born in Georgia. Alfred was twenty-two and Lilly was fourteen when they married. Household members: Alford Gibson (63), Lilly (56) and Ed V. (17).

Tennessee Death and Burial Index revealed Lilly Gibson died at age 83 on December 3, 1954 in Rural Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee. Her father was Frank Brown.

Death certificate revealed Lillie Gibson was born on March 26, 1871 in Georgia, her father was Frank Brown and she was a housewife. Lilly lived in the George Maloney Home at #3 Andrews Place in Knox County, Tennessee for five years and the informant was her daughter, Mrs. Carrie Wiles of #3 Andrews Place. Lilly was a widow and she fractured her left hip one month before her death. Lilly died at age 83 of a cerebral Vascular accident due to Arteriosclerotic heart disease at the General Hospital of Knoxville on Dec 3, 1954 in Knox County, Tennessee. Burial was performed by Rose Funeral Home in Clairfield Cemetery on December 6, 1954.
