Veteran Civil War, Private, Company H, 23rd Battalion, Virginia Infantry (Hounshell's Battalion); enlisted 24 Feb 1864. Married Susannah F. Sublett (1838 – 1865), daughter of Jacob French Sublett (1812 – 1903) and Martha Hight (1816 – 1881). Parents of: Alice Cornelia Nelie Hudson (1864 – 1953).

A man by the name of Hudson was struck by No 13 passenger train on the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, at Alderson,Greenbrier County, WV, on Monday last and instantly killed. He lived below Alderson in Summers county and came to mill at Alderson, which is close to the railroad track, and being very deaf, was not aware of the approach of the train until struck.
