Geraldine Barnes Conner (80) passed away May 27, 2016 at her Palmerdale home. She was surrounded by her family.
Geraldine was born May 23, 1936 in Monticello, Florida. She was the oldest of five children. After graduating from Jefferson County High School in 1954 she moved to Thomasville, Georgia where she worked for the telephone company. It was there that she met and married James Winston Conner. Soon after marriage they moved to the Birmingham area and started their family, and Geraldine became a full-time homemaker.
Geraldine is survived by six children, Anita Ragsdale (Louie), Palmerdale, AL, Donna Conner, Palmerdale AL, David Conner, Arab AL, Durell Conner (Shelly), Palmerdale AL, Lisa McGill (fiancée James Vining), Clay AL, Sharon Roy, Mobile AL; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Ragsdale, Tiffany Hayes (Blake), James Ragsdale, Kevin Conner, Chris Conner, Jeremy Conner, Austin Conner, Rachel Conner, Benjamin Conner, Matthew Conner.
She also leaves behind three brothers, Holland Barnes (Cecile), New Port Richey FL, Ralph Barnes, Monticello FL, Adney Barnes, Colonial Heights VA; nieces and nephews, Ross Barnes (Asuncion), Jody Barnes, Angela Barnes, Stephen Barnes, Stephanie Duncan (Mitch), Brian Barnes.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Conner; her parents, Frank and Aleese Barnes; brother Jared Barnes; sister-in-law Ann Barnes.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5-7 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11 AM at Jefferson Memorial.
The family would like to give special thanks to Alacare Hospice for their care.
