Lorraine Smith – 90, Brookfield/Stewiacke, passed away peacefully in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on May 16, 2016. Born in Tatamagouche, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Hughie and Elizabeth MacPherson. Lorraine was a homemaker for most of her life but in later years, went on to work at the Halifax International Airport in Security. Lorraine was one of the original “Hockey Moms” of Milford and was very much involved in traveling to games around the area. She was a caring, loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Lorraine later retired in Stewiacke and was an active member of the local Seniors Group. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Special thanks to the staff of Elk Court and Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their loving care and support of Lorraine.

Lorraine is survived by her sons, Royce (Lori), Fort McMurray, Alta., Vince (Marjorie), West St. Andrews, Randie, Halifax; grandchildren, Bradley Smith, Brett Smith, Brianna Smith, Cody Smith; sister, Sylvia McMillan, Onslow, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by brother, Bernard MacPherson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18 from 6-8pm with Memorial Service on Thursday, May 19 at 11am both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, N.S. Rev. Keith Gale, officiating. Reception will follow in the funeral home. Private family Interment will take place in Watson Cemetery, East Prince St., Salmon River. Donations in Lorraine’s memory may be made to the Colchester East Hants Health Centre (Palliative Care) or charity of choice.
