26YAKIMA - Richard (Dick) K. Kelson, 82, passed away October 25, 2005 at his home in Yakima, Washington.

Dick was born in Deer Lodge, Montana on May 26, 1923 to Virgil and Etta Mae Kelson. When he was a young man, he and his family moved to a farm in Wapato, WA. where he graduated from high school. He met and married Helen Bair October 4, 1944. They lived and worked for short periods of time in Yakima, Sunnyside and Ellensburg. In 1954 they bought Saddle Mountain Restaurant and gas station. The next move was to Old Vantage, which is now under water, where he owned a service station and garage in 1956. When the Wanapum Dam was constructed and Vantage was flooded, Dick and his family moved up on the hill to New Vantage where he continued to do mechanic work for different construction crews building the Dam and Bridge.

During this time Dick and Helen were busy raising a family of four girls, Sheron, Donna, Kay and Janice.

In 1963, the family moved to Wenatchee. Dick bought Cascade Radiator and owned it until Dick and Helen moved back to the family farm, raising grapes for Welsh's grape juice. He retired from the farm in 1985 and moved to Sun Country Estates in Terrace Heights, Yakima.

Dick is survived by his wife, Helen of 61 years; and three daughters; Sheron Sheldon and her spouse Fred of Omak, WA,; Donna Lynch and spouse, Stan Bossart of Yakima; Kay Rogers of Yakima; and son in-law Jon Fox of Wenatchee; five grandchildren, Sandy (Mark) Phillips, Scott Lynch, Jason (Lindie) Rogers, Lyndsi Rogers and Ben Fox; four great grandchildren, Nicole McKinney, Danielle McKinney, Chase Rogers and Taylor Rogers.
