James R. "Jim" Brown, 79, passed away at his home in Mt. Pulaski at 4:58 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015.

Jim was born Oct. 31, 1935 in Mt. Pulaski, son of Samuel Leonard and Verna Anderson Brown. He was united in marriage to Mary Hahn in September of 1957. She survives.

Surviving are three children, Mark (Gail) Brown, Jill (Mike) Saulsberry and Ann (Wayne) Cowan and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Jim graduated from Millikin University in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in Business and Industry. His employment included real estate broker, time keeping department of Clinton Power Plant, planned giving counselor for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and estimator for Lincolnland Graphics. Jim was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski serving in various capacities: School board, Sunday school superintendent, Elder and Congregational Chairman.
