Funeral services for Kenneth E. Wyman, age 79, of Abilene, will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Life House Church in Abilene with Pastor Kerry Coup officiating. Mr. Wyman passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Memorial Hospital in Abilene.He was born December 25, 1935 in the Lyona Community near Woodbine, Kansas the son of Oscar & Edna (Staatz) Wyman. Kenneth started working in civil service when he was 16 years old in 1951 at Ft. Riley. Then in 1955 he joined the United States Navy and spent four years on the USS Barton Destroyer. When his tour of duty was complete he went to work for Vacu-Blast in Abilene until it closed. Kenneth then went back into civil service at the Eisenhower Presidential Library as a supervisor retiring in 1996.He then worked for Kennedy School for a while before retiring for good.On April 2, 1962 he married Muriel (Gfeller) Eye in Miami, Oklahoma. Muriel survives of the home. He is also survived by his daughter Cheryl and her husband Martin Tyler of Abilene; son Daniel Eye of Abilene; grandchildren Matt and his wife Sarah Tyler, Mike and his wife Paula Fuller, Missy and her husband Steve Blacketer, and Marcy Reiff; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Sheryl Eye in 2011, sisters Ruby Moon, Lucille Martell, and his parents.Kenneth's final resting place will be in the Abilene Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Kenneth's family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Dickinson County Hospice or to the Alzheimer's Association and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
